The Exchange Rates API lets you retrieve the daily rates Sendcloud uses to convert charges in another currency to the currency you are billed in. For example, if you are billed in EUR and ship with a shipping method priced in GBP, the charge is converted from GBP to EUR at the rate for that day.

How a rate is set

  • Sendcloud takes the daily reference rates of the European Central Bank (ECB). The ECB publishes a day’s rates on that day, so an amount dated on a day converts at the ECB rate of the day before.
  • On a day without an ECB publication (a weekend or a holiday), the rate of the day before is used again.
  • The rate includes the Sendcloud markup. It is the rate your invoice items convert at.
  • A stored rate never changes, so the rate for a past day is always the same.

Date window

Each rate has a date: the day the rate applies to. An amount dated on this day (UTC) converts at this rate. Use date_after and date_before to choose the window. Both are inclusive.
  • date_before defaults to today (UTC).
  • date_after has no default. Without it, the list goes back to the first stored rate.
  • A date_after later than date_before returns 400.
The rates are newest first. A day without a stored rate is left out. Today’s rate is available after Sendcloud fetches the ECB rates, shortly after midnight (UTC).

Currencies

from_currency and to_currency are required. Both must be currencies Sendcloud bills in, else the request returns 400. When both are the same currency, the list is empty.

Pagination

This endpoint uses cursor-based pagination via Link response headers. A page holds 20 rates by default; use page_size for up to 100. See Pagination for details.
